Meet Dr. Shobena Jeevan
Hi, I am Dr. Shobena Jeevan, but to make everyone’s life easier, I go by Dr. Shobi. I was born and raised in South India. In 2019, I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Dental Surgery (BDS) Degree from India and moved to the United States after my marriage to Dr. Sidharth Kannan who is a pediatric dental specialist in Ohio. Just a few months back, I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine with a Doctor in Dental Medicine (DMD) Degree.
During my time in dental School at the University of Pittsburgh,
- I completed a 2-year Teaching, Scholarship, and Leadership Certificate Program – Academic Career Tract Area of Concentration.
- Completed a 1.5-year Fellowship Program – Pittsburgh Schweitzer Fellowship.
- I was also awarded, ‘Center for Patients with Special Needs Outstanding Clinical Performance’ Award
- And a recipient of the Pitt Dental Medicine First Professional Scholarship
- All while maintaining a 4.0 GPA
I am not done boasting about myself, just yet. I was elected by the faculty to be inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental National Honors Society. This is a very special honor as only the top 12% of the graduating class in the nation is considered for inclusion. My husband, Dr.Sid calls me a nerd, I just think I am SUPER COOL and he is jealous.
Apart from being a shopaholic and chocoholic, I enjoy visiting indoor water parks, rating and reviewing Shirley temple drinks (the best Shirley temple has 3 cherries), learning the Gen Z language, asking God for favors and wishes and lastly I find so much happiness and solace when I spend my husband’s money. Now, that we are welcoming a new golden retriever puppy, Sheldon Cooper, I will not have to spend all my life running just my husband’s life.
